For those of you that have done a newborn photo session with me, you know that I send out a questionnaire asking you what colors you would like to use during your baby’s session.  I think because of how I have the colors grouped 99% of the time parents choose pinks/creams for their girl and blues/greys for their boy.  There are so many fun color combinations that I never get to use because I think they are just simply off the radar to most parents when envisioning their newborn session.  At a recent Newborn Photography training, I learned to look at all the color combinations that surround us every day. Whether it is an outfit you saw at Target, or something Mother Nature created, color is all around us. I follow different instagram users just for their use of color. I am thinking of updating my newborn questionnaire to use terms like “traditional” , “trendy” or “classic”.  This way I can better understand the look newborn parents are going for rather than a certain color scheme.  Don’t get me wrong, pinks and blues look wonderful, but blue on a girl is breathtaking and unexpected.  One of my favorite colors to use is mustard.  So maybe by showing more examples of newborn session color schemes that are a bit non traditional, more parents will see that there are so many options.  Just look at how beautiful sweet Hallie is using these color combinations!
