As a photographer going in to a personal project like this, I had certain visions in my head about what I wanted to achieve technically out of this session. I threw a lot of that out the window when I realized that the stories of these strong women far overpowered anything I could possibly capture in camera. As each story was shared with me, I would cry reading them, then I would cry again as I created the post, then I would get personal messages and comments about how my readers would cry when reading the stories. Yes, these were all sad cries, but they were also happy tears as well. Each of these women endured multiple tragedies to then persevere and reach their happy ending. It was an honor to be able to share their stories and to be entrusted to stay true to what they wanted to convey to others that may be in the midst of their own storms. May you all find your way through the storm and reach your rainbow’s pot of gold.
