I had no idea so many of my friends and fellow photographers sewed until they all started producing facemasks like they were professional seamstresses in hiding. I don’t sew, I wish I did, but I end up arguing with the machine so much it sucks the life out of whatever project I am doing. I know I am capable because for a brief moment in middle school I made myself a bunch of skirts. Polka dot skirts to be exact. I remember thinking that I was going to be known as the polka dot girl. That didn’t stick, neither did my sewing skills. I do enjoy crafting and I would say I have decent general craft skills that can get me by. I chalk paint furniture, scrapbook, paint on occasion & use a hot glue gun without too much issue. I recently started trying my hand at needle felting again to see if I could make some small animals for my newborn sessions. I had made a deer a couple years ago and knew I could improve if I just practiced a bit. After watching a few YouTube videos, I was able to produce a deer, a raccoon & a French bulldog that I am fairly happy with. I am still stuck at how I want to do the eyes, but for the most part, I am happy with the results and look forward to adding them to my newborn prop collection. I don’t think anything is quite as cute as a baby hugging a little stuffy during their new session. If you are interested in scheduling your newborn session to test out one of these adorable critters you can find my newborn photo session info here.
